Hunter's Quarry + Battlefield Experience

Postby Patrick? » April 8th, 2010, 1:29 am

Whelp, I was perusing the WoC forums, and it looks like* the official stance is that I cannot deal the extra Hunter's Quarry damage to each Quarry that I hit - I don't think that's what the book says, but if that's the official stance, I guess I'm willing to settle for it.

HOWEVER, Kevin The Rule Lawyer failed to point out that Battlefield Experience grands a +1 to hit on ANY attack roll - even those that don't come from me. So all my allies get +1 to hit when they're attacking one of my 3 quarries. That placates me a little.

* I say looks like because I never actually saw an official stating that, I only saw people saying stuff to the effect of "I seem to remember someone important saying ..."

Now, just because I don't know when to quit, I've spent some time discussing this issue with other people (namely, non-DnD players). They seem to agree with my interpretation, that I should be able to deal damage once per round per quarry that I hit.

The most succinct wording to justify it was "So, if you mark 1 person, you can do damage to him once. If you mark 3 people, you can only do damage to one of them once. Why are those other two marks weaker?"

Again, I just want to point out that I won't be too heart broken when Tanner rules in favor of "only once means only once" and takes away my extra damage. There are still a few little bonuses I can derive from having multiple targets marked. Namely, I get to choose which attack to peg hunter's quarry damage to, as long as it's damage dealt to a quarry.

That's going to be my ruling, especially because of the following words under Hunter's Quarry:

"If you have dealt Hunter's Quarry damage since the start of your turn, you cannot deal it again until the start of your next turn."

Plus there is a feat which allows you to deal Hunter's Quarry damage again with an action point.

Pssh, I'll take that one as a last resort, but it averages out to what, 8 extra damage an encounter?

I can do better than that.
