Calendar

Postby Apollo » January 3rd, 2010, 5:56 pm

I'm sure you all noticed the new calendar that I added at the top of forums. Let me know what you think. I could put it at the bottom, but I wanted everyone to be able to see it and know it's there.

I like it, my vote is definately at the bottom though. Takes up my whole little screen.

Since its google calendar, can we add our own events on there that are personal for us? I was able to add it to my google calendar, but I are lazy and if it showed up there that would the awesome.

ps- put the Lasercannon Run updates on there
pss- people should keep posting for the lasercannon run.

Ive been working on the sps webpage reciently and just added google calendar to it as well. The things so easy to use its not even funny. My question to you dave, do we need the calendar on every page or would a dedicated calendar page be better? Another option you could consider is setting up the calendar as a 'list view' and putting it on the side of the forums. That way its on every page but a bit more out of the way.

Calendars are by default only editable by the person who created it. Dave has two options if he wanted to let others add things to it. He could either make it public (Everyone can edit it then) or individually add email adresses to the 'approved to edit' white list.

Alternatly, he could create multiple calendars (D&D calendar, lasercannon run calendar, etc) and have the site display all of them. That way he could pick and choose who can edit which calendar.

It is hard coded to show only specific calendars which is defined when dave creates it using a nifty embed creator google has. This means you couldnt have it show specific events only to you.

Because of the way PHPBB is designed, it is easiest to have it be displayed on every page which is why I did it. I'll probably move it to the bottom.

Yeah TJ, overall I found their embedded calendar lacking. You could not use any custom settings. I would have liked a 2 week view. But until they implement that I think the best may be the "list view".

Alright, the way I have it set up right now is such that it should show the next two events on the calendar. You can scroll through other events, but as soon as you load to a new page it will go back to the next 2 events.

You should notice that above it it says "Click Here For Whole Calendar". If you click it it will open a new window with a larger view of the calendar!

In this compact form I think I am going to leave it at the top! What do you guys think?

Also, if anyone has a meaningful calendar let me know and I can have this calendar subscribe to your meaningful calendar! Note that everyone will be able to see!

Also, just added a Justify text button as well as a font button! How sweet is that?

Test. I don't know what justifying text means.

I <3 the new calendar format. Keep it like this until you find something even better.

EDIT: Apparently it does nothing?

Your lines of text are not long enough! Justified text is where each complete line is extended to fill all the space within the margins, as in a book.
