Version 1.2

Postby Apollo » September 24th, 2009, 10:32 am

Apollo's Comments:

I have released Version 1.2(project page) of my character sheet. It vastly improves the first page both in organization and utility.

Current Release:

Changes:
    - Spacing for eyes, hair, height, skin, etc. enlarged on the first page.
    - Portrait space enlarged.
    - Mannerisms, Allies, Enemies, Quotes, and Goals sections removed.
    - Layout changes on page 1.

Known Issues:
    - "Alignment" is misspelled on page 1. What a noob!
    - Size of pages in the .pdf are huge.
Make sure to fit the pages to printable area before printing.
    example.jpg
Do this unless you want to waste paper.

    - The line just above the Languages/ Background boxes on page 1 doesn't get printed by some printers.

Future:
    - An ammo section will be added for keeping track of ammunition carried for each weapon.
    - I plan one last revision to change the character sheet purely aesthetically. I don't like the background gradient.

This made me realize one thing that has always bugged me about character sheets with the description.

hair _______

do I put color?
or do I put style?
or do I blah blah blah.

I was going to make this a suggestion to enlarge this, but then realized that if people want to do a lot more with the looks, they can simply write "see description in giant box below" (or SDIGBB for short). So I don't think I would change it on your character sheet unless you were going through a big re-haul of the first page.

Have you thought about putting input boxes so that people can have characters saved on a computer. This way a DM with a computer could have several character sheets open with data and stuffs on them. Sorta like the character builder stuffs, but you input all the stuff yourself.

ps. it is pronouced "suh-dig-buh-bee" (SDIGBB)

pss. Avatar is totally Rolen.

Haha, yeah that is totally Rolen! And I have thought about making it form-fill-able but I haven't been motivated enough to do it.

Official play testing has begun. So far, it all looks GREAT, so I'm going to start a list of tiny, pedantic things I notice.

I realize that this is (nearly) unique to rangers, but I noticed that there's no box to keep track of ammunition expended - of course, this is easy enough to keep track of in the margins.

Good suggestion with the ammo. There is totally enough room on the "Properties" line for ammo, for each weapon.

After using this character sheet again, I can safely say that this is the most streamlined, efficient, and otherwise pleasant to use character sheet that I've ever had the pleasure of writing on.

I highly recommend everyone switching over to it.

lol, Thanks. I'm glad you like it! There are still a few things I'd like to perfect, but this is a good functional representation.
