Version 1.0

Postby Apollo » September 7th, 2009, 6:39 pm

Version 1.1 has been released. Please go here.

Apollo's Comments:

I have released Version 1.0(project page) of my character sheet. It is a little rough around the edges but I wanted to start play testing it sooner rather than later. I encourage you to give it a try and give me any input/criticism you might have by responding in this thread.

Current Release:

Known Issues:
    - Size of pages in the .pdf are huge.
Make sure to fit the pages to printable area before printing.
    - No section for action points/ milestones.
    - No space for weapon properties/notes.
    - Languages might be better off on the front page.
    - Capacity might be better off on the last page.
    - The Prof and Misc boxes in the Weapons section are transparent to the background gradient.

First of all. I think this is, even in its current state, my new favorite character sheet format.

A few comments:

* I love the size of the feats section. Typically there's just enough room for the name, not the effect.

* I love that page 4 is all powers. If you fill up the space in page 3 and 4, you can just reprint 4 over and over without it looking like garbage.

* I agree that the known issues you listed should be changed.

* I'd swap the location of the skills and the feats sections. That way feats would be easily visible in combat and skills would be on the page that I'd look at when I was trying to overcome an "out of combat" situation. Sort of a "Hm, what items and skills do I have that might help out here?" page.

*I might remove all the labels on the first page and just call the whole section "notes" or "character description" or something. I mean, what if I have a huge background section, but not many enemies or whatever? You could even put all those headers back in as suggested inputs or something all at the top. NOTE: By the time I finished this post, I'd reconsidered this. I might like it more as is.

* Check boxes next to "At-Will" "Encounter" and "Daily" on the power sheet?

* If you're really gung-ho, maybe have a "Used" box on the power sheet as well, so you can keep track of what abilities you've used.

* Second Wind?

Thanks for the input. I chose to keep the skills on the combat page because I decided to go with the format of keeping all numbers in one general area. The "Combat Notes" Section is a good place to keep notes on combat related feats I thought.

I think I will add check boxes next to the "at will", "encounter", "daily" spots eventually.

Used boxes, maybe.

I consciously neglected putting in a section for second wind because I felt it wasn't the type of thing that needed to be marked. I typically don't have a hard time remembering whether or not I have used it in combat, and besides the fact that you can only use it once it functions exactly as a healing surge. But if people would like it to show up, I can add a little box for it.
